In Detail

1st day: Palermo

Arrival at the airport, meet with the private driver, transfer to hotel and overnight stay.

2nd day - Street food in Palermo & Monreale.

After breakfast, meet with the guide and visit the main attractions of the city: the Norman district, i Quattro Canti (the four corners of the city), the Baroque cathedral square, the Piazza Pretoria Fountain and the Church of the Martorana. We then visit  the Capo market, the oldest market in Palermo, where we will see and taste some famous street food like panelle, arancine, croquettes and pani ca meusa. After lunch we go to Monreale to visit the imposing Arab-Norman cathedral, with its artistic masterpieces and Byzantine mosaics, beautiful cloister, sculptures and inlays. Return to Palermo and overnight.

3rd day: Segesta and Wine tasting in the Quattrocieli Winery

Breakfast and departure for Segesta, one of the most beautiful places in Sicily, located on Mount Barbaro.  The fame of Segesta is linked to the famous Doric Temple and there is also a semicircular theater dating back to the Roman conquest (III century A.D.), located on the highest peak of Monte Barbaro. We then visit a winery near Alcamo to learn the story of the company,  how the wine is processed and taste three wines as well as local meats, cheeses and oil. You will get to fill, cap and label a bottle of wine of your choice among those you tasted as well as customizing the label with your name and the date of your visit. After the visit, return to Palermo. Overnight.

4th day: Palermo and Jeep excursion, Madonie and Vulcano Island

After breakfast, check out and departure for Cefalù. Once in Cefalù we meet with our guide and with the jeep we start our nature tour, crossing the Madonie and Nebrodi parks on dirt roads to spot wild animals such as fallow deer and birds of prey. Admiring typical flora and fauna, on clear days it will be possible to see Mount Etna. On the way we make several stops to admire the unique landscape of the Madonie. We then return to Cefalù and continue to Milazzo where we take the hydrofoil to Vulcano, arriving in the port after about 30 minutes. Private transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

5th day: Private boat excursion to Lipari and Salina

After breakfast and a private transfer to the port of Vulcano we board our private boat. Once in Lipari we will skirt the Monte Rosa and the village of Canneto coming to white beaches where we can admire the old pumice quarry plant, the obsidian flows and the village of Acquacalda. Once at the main port of S. Marina Salina a private minibus will be waiting for us for the panoramic tour, starting with the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Terzito. We will continue to the hamlet of Pollara, made famous by the film Il Postino with Massimo Troisi with a stop to taste Malvasia wine and local capers. In Lingua we stop for 2 hours for lunch and to visit the salt lake and taste the gastronomic specialties of the island such as u pani cunzatu and the famous Alfredo granitas. In the afternoon we sail along the western coast, where the cliffs overlooking the sea, the coves, the caves and the imposing Petra Longa and Petra Menalda stacks make it one of the most beautiful parts of the archipelago. Before returning to Vulcano we end the day in style with a last taste of Malvasia and typical biscuits offered by the captain. Return to Vulcano, private transfer to the hotel and overnight.

6th day: Taormina  and Siracusa

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and private transfer to the Port of Vulcano. Board the hydrofoil for Milazzo and arrive in the port of Milazzo. Meet the private driver and departure for Taormina with the guide. The historic city of Taormina was founded by the Sicilians around 1300 B.C. and later used by the Greeks and Romans. Here we visit the Greek-Roman amphitheater, the Cathedral, the Piccolo Teatro Odeon, the Palazzo Corvaia and walk along the Corso Umberto, the main shopping street. The visit will last approximately 4 hours. We then leave for Siracusa. Check into the hotel and overnight.

7th day: Siracusa  and Ortigia

After breakfast, meet the guide and visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis (Greek Theater, Roman Amphitheater, Latomie and Ear of Dionysus). After the visit we return to Ortigia for a tasting of typical Sicilian products at the famous Burgio Brothers delicatessen. After the light lunch visit the historic center of Ortigia, where you will be enchanted by the splendid Piazza Duomo and its Baroque cathedral which in the past was a Greek temple in Doric style. Afterwards, along the delightful alleys of the center, you will admire the famous Aretusa spring in front of the Porto Grande. Overnight in Siracusa.

8th day: Ragusa, Modica and Noto

After breakfast departure for the Ragusa area and the venues of Andrea Cammilleri’s Inspector Montalbano books and television series. In Ragusa we will visit the Vigata Square and the beautiful Cathedral of San Giorgio. Continuing along Via XXV Aprile, at a certain point you will find yourself in Piazza Pola, in front of the Church of San Giuseppe which in recent Montalbano episodes was the headquarters of the Vigata police station. After visiting Ragusa Ibla, we move on to Modica, another beautiful Baroque city. We will visit the Palazzo Polara and other architectural landmarks and taking an uphill road we will reach the highest part of Modica, where you can see the Cathedral of San Giovanni, preceded by an elegant staircase, the Palazzo Tommasi-Rossi, the splendid portico of the Palazzo Zacco-Pirrera and many other buildings with sumptuous facades. During the day we will visit the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto for a tasting of Modica’s famous chocolate. Return to Siracusa with a stop along in Noto. Visit Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Along its main axis it will be possible to admire the palaces, convents and churches in the historic center, among which the Cathedral and  Palazzo Nicolaci Villadorata. Return to Siracusa and overnight.

9th day: Siracusa

Breakfast in the hotel. Free Day. Driver and private car available. Overnight in Siracusa.

10th day: Piazza Armerina and Wine tasting 

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Piazza Armerina known worldwide for the mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Meet the guide and visit the Tenuta Gigliotto cellar for a tasting of six different types of wines produced on the estate with lunch at the Gigliotto farmhouse. After lunch, continue to Agrigento and overnight.

Day 11: Valley of the Temples and Palermo

After breakfast, we will take a guided tour of the splendid Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where among a vast expanse of almond trees (in bloom in February) there are the remains of the ancient Akragas, defined by Pindar as "the most beautiful city of mortals." You can admire the Temples of Juno, Concord, Hercules and Zeus and after the visit we drive to Palermo. Overnight.

12th day: Departure from Palermo

After breakfast, check out, departure for Palermo airport and end of our services.
