Boscolo’s autumn itineraries in Italy and Europe reflect the season and the colours of the changing foliage. Following a successful summer season we move into autumn starting with the Langhe, a land of intense aromas and flavours, or Lake Maggiore and the Centovalli train which, like the Bernina red train, (also among the tours) is a historic experience not to be missed.  Then there is Tuscia with its splendid nature which is even more delightful in this season and the iconic Val d’Orcia, but also Trentino and surprising Friuli. These are all 4 to 7-day tours starting from €590, and all are accompanied by Boscolo tour managers.

Northern Europe’s spectacular nature in five to seven days

We also have special departures from Rome and Milan with a guide and connections from all over the country for four 5-7-day itineraries to the Far North starting from €940 euro. Discover Oslo and Bergen and the colours of the Norwegian fjords, or the foliage of Finland in Helsinki and Hameenlinna, a trekking tour that takes in the Aulanko Park.

Specialty food festivals for gourmet travellers

Heading south we tour the melancholy and sweet landscapes of Portugal between Oporto and the suggestive Douro valley. For gourmet travelers, there is the Fiesta del los Mariscos in Galicia, an unmissable seafood festival and a lively tribute to the excellence of local gastronomy.

The cruise line’s new Ravenna terminal, which will be operational from 2024, will be able to handle a flow of 300,000 passengers a year. RCL Cruises, part of the Royal Caribbean group, has been awarded the European tender for the concession of this maritime terminal and the construction of the new cruise facility.

A sustainable state-of-the-art Port Hub with quality services

This is an important step in Royal Caribbean’s plans for a new range of options in the Adriatic and throughout the Mediterranean. The regeneration of the Ravenna cruise port is part of the Port Hub, which, thanks to an extensive dredging of the access channel and the north outer port, will make access possible for a greater number of ships. "We are really excited about this extraordinary opportunity,” said Vice President of Destination Development Joshua Carroll. “It will allow us to create a project at the forefront of quality of services, sustainability and harmonization with the environment, thanks to our know-how and experience, which has always been dedicated to hospitality. "

A new multi-functional Dunes Park

The terminal complex will be part of the new Dunes Park to be built by Ravenna’s port authority. This will turn Ravenna into a real homeport - a starting and ending point for cruises and not just a transit point - with the spin-off for pre and post-cruise stays also thanks to the collaboration with the airports of Bologna, Forlì and Rimini.

Green areas and cycle-pedestrian paths

The area, covering a total area of 12 hectares, will have public green spaces and cycle-pedestrian paths as well as  range of services supporting the cruise terminal area. There will be an electrification system for the docks to ensure environmental sustainability in the management of the terminal, allowing parked ships to turn off their engines and run on electricity.  The investment for the terminal will amount to some €28 million, of which just under 6 million will be borne by the port authority itself. The concession will have a duration of 33 years.

The Dimora Palanca, by architect and interior designer Stefano Viviani, has opened its doors in Florence. The late-1800s villa built by the Palanca family is close to the Medieval city walls and has 18 rooms, an internal garden and a fine dining restaurant. The building, under the protection of the Cultural Heritage Authority, had been in a state of neglect for 30 year. Viviani retraced the original architectural layout and dismantled the 20th-century makeover bringing the villa back to its former splendour.

Borgotufi, an albergo diffuso scattered hotel in the town of Castel del Giudice in the Molise region on the border with Abruzzo, opened in June this year.  Old stables have been transformed into 33 comfortable independent houses that are ideal for lovers of the Italian countryside, signature cuisine and the services of a top-flight hotel.

Traditional architecture and summer festivals

The stone houses have wooden furnishings, with the Il Tartufo Restaurant and the Wellness Center in the main building - a village within the village – and are made for enjoying relaxing holidays in total privacy.  The houses on the panoramic square are in traditional style, and in summer the main square becomes a hub of events, from the Castel del Giudice buskers festival, to a street art festival, and from astronomical observations (no light pollution here!) to photographic exhibitions.

Nature trails and a UNESCO reserve

Ideal for slow and sustainable tourism, hiking, mountain biking and e-bike tours, but also rafting and canoeing on the Sangro river (the rafting center is right in Castel del Giudice ) visitors can also visit Samnite archaeological sites like Pietrabbondante and biodiverse nature areas like the Alto Molise UNESCO MaB Reserve. On the Vie dei Sensi trails from Borgotufi to the Melise apple orchards, visitors stop in farms to discover local food traditions, and the perfect way to end the day is in the restaurant's signature restaurant.

Local specialties and truffles

Chef Marco Pasquelli’s classic Molise and Abruzzo creations in the Il Tartufo Restaurant respect the traditions and seasonality of the ingredients. And then there is the truffle that grows in the woods which is the star of Marco’s tasting menu. Prices for a stay at the Borgotufi albergo diffuso start at €94 a night for two with breakfast, and the dinner tasting menu starts at €199 per couple.
