The second Chapter Italia property
The 82-room property marks the second opening in the Chapter Italia portfolio, developed by Marco Cilia following the success of Chapter Roma in 2019. Set within a restored 16th-century medieval village in the countryside, the property redefines Italian hospitality by introducing a bold contemporary design to one of the most evocative Italian landscapes. The property has a strong focus on design, combining the reliability and comfort of a high-end hotel with the personality, warmth and creativity of an independent property.
"Either relax completely or let your hair down"
“Following the success of Chapter Rome, we wanted to take the Chapter philosophy beyond the city limits and show that contemporary design and authentic Italian hospitality can thrive anywhere,- says Cilia. -Tuscany has extraordinary country resorts, but many seemed too quiet, too predictable to us. We have created a place where you can either relax completely or let your hair down - sometimes both in the same day. Chapter Chianti was created to give guests the freedom to experience Tuscany in their own way, whether that’s with a yoga session at dawn or dancing after sunset.”
Fine dining and a communal experience spa
Leading the culinary offering at Chapter Chianti is chef Vincenzo Martella, who brings with him over twenty years’ experience in fine dining and the luxury hospitality sector. A Michelin-starred chef, Martella will bring his contemporary approach to Italian cuisine to the hotel’s three restaurants and bars, creating a gastronomic programme based on his Roots and Branches philosophy which is a balance between tradition and evolution. The Forever A Relaxed Mood spa reinvents the concept of wellness as a communal experience. Unlike traditional spas designed for solitary retreats, this space encourages connection as well as relaxation, with Turkish baths, saunas, saltwater pools, hydrotherapy pools, a dry hammam and a jacuzzi clad in travertine.
Curated activities and outdoors sports
In addition to its culinary and wellness offerings, Chapter Chianti immerses guests in the authentic rhythms of Tuscan life through a series of curated activities. Guests can explore the countryside on horseback through the vineyards, truffle hunting with local experts and olive harvesting during the season. Mountain bike trails wind through the hills, whilst dawn yoga sessions offer a rejuvenating start to the day. Padel courts provide sporting activities alongside a state-of-the-art gym, and local farms allow families to interact with animals.
Art is central to the property
Art remains central to the Chapter experience. Continuing the work he began with Chapter Roma, South African designer Tristan Du Plessis of Studio A brings his immersive aesthetic to Chianti, whilst artist Kokekit introduces a softer visual language throughout the property. Her organic lines and fluid forms run through the rooms and communal areas. “The challenge was to create something bold and modern in a region defined by tradition, without losing its soul,- explains Du Plessis. -We wanted the old and the new to coexist in dialogue. The result is a space where the passage of time is visible but not frozen: a historic village transformed into something radically contemporary, yet timeless.” In addition to the main hotel, The Mansion offers a villa with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a private pool, olive groves and complete privacy, and is perfect for families, friends or groups looking for a space to gather and celebrate.
"We’re writing a new chapter, one that speaks to travellers"
Located in the heart of Chianti and 45 minutes from Siena and Florence, Chapter Chianti is an ideal base for discovering the most authentic Tuscany, whilst offering a retreat that feels light years away from what one would normally expect. “We’re not trying to replicate what already exists in Tuscany. We’re writing a new chapter, one that speaks to travellers who value authenticity, creativity and design as part of their journey."
A historic stately home
The first property, Baglio Basile, in Petrosino, opened on 26 March. Situated between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo, this historic stately home retains the charm of 19th-century architecture In the warmer months guests can enjoy the swimming pool and the sea, with a beach set in an unspoiled setting.
Calabria blends nature, history and imagination
CDSHotels Ninfe Saracene
Following this first opening, CDSHotels’ spring programme will continue in May with Ninfe Saracene, a new destination in Le Castella, on the Ionian coast of Calabria. Ninfe Saracene's furnishings, finishes, overall atmosphere and cuisine are reminiscent of the Eastern Mediterranean, and with the Aragonese Fortress, the golden sandy beach and the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area, holidays reveal a Calabria that blends nature, history and imagination.
Exploring Western Sicily and Marsala
CDSHotels Delfino Beach
At the end of May it will be the turn of Delfino Beach in Marsala, overlooking the sea of Western Sicily. But Delfino Beach is not defined solely by its relationship with the sea: it is also a natural starting point for exploring the cultural landscape of Marsala and its surroundings. With Baglio Basile already open and Ninfe Saracene and Delfino Beach set to open, CDSHotels marks the start of the 2026 season with three new openings that expand the story of Southern Italy through diverse yet complementary destinations.
Italy is attracting a hi-end clientele
The operator reports on the overall positive picture for foreign tourism flows to Italy in the high-end segment. In the current scenario of geopolitical tensions and conflicting scenarios and taking into account that last year benefited from the extraordinary boost of the Jubilee, demand remains solid. This confirms Italy's ability to attract an international clientele with high purchasing power, oriented towards tailor-made travel, exclusive services, and high-end stays.
Italy is considered safe, stable, and desirable
"The data we consider most significant concerns the resilience of demand in the high-end segment, which continues to prove robust even in an international context marked by geopolitical tensions. Talking with clients and partners what emerges is a very strong perception of Italy as a safe, stable, and consistently desirable destination. This contributes concretely to supporting tourist flows and confirms the country's ability to remain a reference point for high-end tourism,“ says Salvatore Gioiosa, chief commercial officer AG Boutique Journey.
The Americas are 65% of total bookings
The Americas remain the main target market representing approximately 65% of total bookings. Canada accounts for some 30% and remains stable. The United States and Mexico are posting increases estimated between 10% and 20%. Bookings in Latin America are also positive, growing around 15%, with significant performances recorded by Brazil and Argentina and encouraging signs across the entire region. Europe and Asia both stand at around 15%.
Art cities but also "deep Italy" in demand
The Grand Tour of Italy, with 12-14 to day itineraries to Rome, Florence, and Venice, often complemented by Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast, are among the most requested and offer private access and exclusive experiences. At the same time, the "deep Italy" trend is also growing, with itineraries that extend from Rome toward the South as well as Puglia and Matera, and lesser-known destinations. These are highly personalized trips, and overall stays average 12-14 days and are often multi-destination, while the demand for packages with an average stay of around nine days is also growing. Demand is increasingly shifting toward unique and non-replicable bespoke experiences that combine exclusivity, privacy, and emotional value, such as private openings of historic buildings with Michelin dining, after-hours visits to iconic wineries with the owners, helicopter transfers between destinations and private yacht:
Venice, Verona and Treviso: 2.5 million passengers
For the summer over 16 million seats are expected to go on sale between April and October, this is a 9% increase on 2025. So we are looking at a positive trend for the three airports of Venice, Verona and Treviso, which, in the first two months of the year, recorded an increase of +11.5% over the same period last year, totalling around 2.5 million passengers.
Condor, Volotea and Wizz Air
While we await Emirates and Qatar Airways to resume their respective flights to Dubai and Doha, there is no shortage of new developments for the summer from Venice Airport. From 1 May, Condor will start operating three daily flights between Venice and Frankfurt; from 22 May, Icelandair’s new flight to Reykjavik will commence, with three weekly services. Egyptair is also joining the Venetian network, launching a new twice-weekly service between Venice and Cairo on 29 June. Volotea is deploying a second aircraft during the summer season and introducing two new seasonal flights to Corfu and Rhodes. Wizz Air has announced the arrival of a fourth aircraft at its Venice base in mid-September, expanding its network to 26 destinations with the launch of new flights to Alicante, Bilbao, Seville and Valencia.
45 destinations from Treviso Airport
Treviso’s Canova Airport continues to consolidate its role as a key hub for low-cost traffic with a network of 45 destinations, served mainly by Ryanair and Wizz Air, with a strong presence in the Mediterranean and Eastern European markets. Spain, Romania, Albania, Belgium and Poland are the European markets offering the highest number of seats on sale, reaffirming the airport’s popularity among both leisure and VFR passengers and business travellers.
Verona: 86 destinations served by 25 airlines
Verona Airport, following the completion of the Romeo project for the terminal’s redevelopment, has recorded a 20% increase with over 520,000 passengers in the first two months of the year. In summer 2026 Catullo Airport offers 86 destinations served by 25 airlines, with several new additions: Volotea has announced new routes to Comiso, Malaga, Menorca, Athens and Karpathos, as well as Aalborg in Denmark, thanks to the deployment of a third aircraft during the summer peak.
Sicily: new heritage and low-cost flights
Sicily is now even more accessible thanks to the new connection to Trapani operated by Ryanair, the airport’s leading carrier by passenger volume, which is expanding its network to include a route to Tirana, Albania. Among the new additions, the direct connection between Verona and Casablanca, operated by Royal Air Maroc with three weekly flights starting 21 June, certainly stands out. Casablanca joins the other hubs already served, such as Paris Charles de Gaulle with Air France, and Frankfurt and Munich, both connected by Air Dolomiti with twice-daily flights. Charter and leisure carriers play a central role in completing the network: among these is Neos, which continues to offer long-haul destinations and leading tourist destinations.
A total of 150 destinations for the hub
“With a total network of over 150 destinations across Europe and the world and more than 16 million seats on sale, the North-East Airport Hubhub represents a strategic asset for international mobility and for the economic and tourism development of the region,” said Camillo Bozzolo, Director of Aviation Development at the Save Group. “The workshop that has just concluded with industry stakeholders confirms the strength of the collaboration between airports, airlines and tour operators, jointly promoting the opportunities offered by the airport network and supporting the growth of tourist flows towards an ever-expanding catchment area, which constitutes one of the main destination regions in Europe.”

Florence’s New Year is on 25 March
Kike Sarasola, CEO and founder of Rome Mate Hotels has prepared his properties to welcome tourists to Florence’s main attractions for “Capodanno Fiorentino,” the Florentine New Year, an ancient medieval tradition marking the start of the calendar year, which takes place on 25 March.
A day dedicated to the poet Dante Alighieri
“March is one of the best times to visit Florence: the city offers unique activities, thanks in part to Dantedì, the day dedicated to Dante Alighieri and the start of the journey narrated in the Divine Comedy. We at Room Mate Hotels want to facilitate the exploration and discovery of the city through our key strengths: a central location, immersive architecture and a team ready to provide all the necessary information to enable visitors to join in the local festivities and traditions,” says Sarasola.
Two new Room Mate Collection hotels
Over the past year, Room Mate Hotels has consolidated its presence in Florence with two 4-star hotels located in the historic centre. The Room Mate Collection Isabella is a 17th-century palace recently renovated by interior designer Luis García Fraile, and the Room Mate Luca, a neoclassical 1865 building with a modern and functional design and ideal for exploring museums and monuments on foot.
“2026 will be a positive year thanks to…repositioning”
2026 is set to be a year of strong growth for Room Mate in Italy, a market considered strategic by Sarasola. Here, the group forecasts a 10.5% increase in turnover and new openings in Sicily, Milan and Rome. “Italy is a priority market, with great opportunities for development,” says Sarasola. “2026 will be a positive year thanks to the repositioning of the brand and the work of our teams.” The chain currently has six properties on the Italian market, all central 4-star hotels with a strong lifestyle focus, often designed by international designers. The recent repositioning towards the Room Mate Collection brand, which now comprises ten hotels, has also yielded excellent results in terms of reputation.”
