Visiting Trieste, a city that is both Central European and Mediterranean, is always an incredible experience: from Piazza Unità d'Italia to the Molo Audace and from Borgo Cavana to Borgo Teresiano, and from every corner of the city there are wonderful views of the sea. Yet another of the reasons to visit Trieste this autumn and winter is the Bansky exhibition which is the most comprehensive ever held in Italy.
From 25 November 2022 to 10 April 2023, the exhibition dedicated to the mysterious Bristol artist will be in the Salone degli Incanti in Trieste. Presented by the Municipality of Trieste, PromoturismoFVG and Madeinart this extraordinary exhibition pays homage to one of the most popular, controversial and mysterious artists on the contemporary scene.
Banksy’s art was born on walls, then disseminated by the media, and in particular on the web. In this major exhibition, a fundamental (and less analysed) aspect emerges for a proper understanding of the street artist: his success as a great communicator which has played a primary role in the continuous and progressive growth of his art. His works are pure messages. What ultimately counts for Banksy is not so much the form as the message. And yet he has managed to formally create an immediately recognisable and multicultural personal language.
All this will emerge through the works in the exhibition, which are on loan from Italian and international collections. They include some extraordinary large paintings and will be divided into genres and themes, providing visitors with the key to understanding Banksy's work through precise didactic supports related to the general themes of the sections and the individual works.

2. The nativity scene of Sutrio in Carnia
Passing through the small towns in the picturesque region of Sutrio, in magical Carnia you will come across an incredible, monumental nativity scene which is the result of 30 years of passion, dedication and creativity. In the village, with its scattered hotel and its typical mountain chalets, where wood has been worked for centuries in the numerous craft workshops, you cannot miss a visit to the Teno Crib, an extraordinary example of local craftsmanship.
The result of 30 years of patient work by Gaudenzio Straulino, known as Teno, who has created this detailed work strictly out of wood. Teno's accurate rendition of the Nativity scene reconstructs the life of Sutrio, so much so that it can be considered an enchanting miniature ethnographic museum. This year some of Sutrio's craftsmen will be engaged in the creation of sculptures that will complete the nativity scene for Vatican 2022.
3. Inauguration of the ITS Arcademy
A unique reality in the world of fashion is Trieste’s ITS Arcademy a branch of ITS - International Talent Support, a platform created by Barbara Franchin to research, support and promote young talent in the world of design and art. The Arcademy is an archive project of all the work collected in the 20 years of ITS's existence: 14,359 portfolios, 1,077 fashion items, 160 accessories, 118 pieces of jewellery and over 700 photographic projects. Being a space open to all, ITS Arcademy will also host collateral events in line with its values and mission which is the discovery of talent and the promotion of creativity.

4. Ski lift prices remain unchanged
The FVG ski season will officially start on 8 December 2022 and end on 21 March 2023. The prices for the ski lifts remain unchanged with respect to the last season and again all the mountain hubs of Friuli Venezia Giulia can be reached with a single season ticket.
The free ski pass for baby categories up to seven years of age and the fixed price of €10 per day for children up to 14 years of age are confirmed. The policy standardises both the prices for special categories and professional users along precise application guidelines, re-establishing the single rate valid for the ski hubs of the entire region: Forni di Sopra-Sauris, Piancavallo, Sappada, Sella Nevea, Tarvisio and Ravascletto-Zoncolan.
It should be noted that the calendar foresees the opening of the ski lifts and recreational and sports activities on 8 December, snow and weather conditions permitting. Similarly the closing date for all the hubs is 21 March 2023, with the exception of Sella Nevea for which the end of season date is Monday 10 April. The season will be divided into two stages: low season (from the opening until Sunday 18 December 2022 and from Monday 13 March 2023 to the end of the season) and high season (from Monday 19 December 2022 to Sunday 12 March 2023).
5. The Lussari torchlight procession
On 1 January 2023 from the top of Mount Lussari some 250 skiers, each holding his or her own torch and dressed in traditional costumes, will descend for about 3.5 kilometres from the Di Prampero ski slope, leaving a luminous path. This unique choreographic event will be created thanks to the artisans of Camporosso, the master torchbearers who for generations have been studying the best materials for making torches. The public can watch the torchlight procession from both Lussari and Camporosso, and every year, the cable car respects a suitable closing time so that spectators can enjoy the spectacle until the last torch.

A wide range of trails is ready to welcome walkers to this border region, from the super-accessible trails towards the lakes to others that lead to mountain refuges. And of course they also offer an opportunity to taste the typical products of the region. There are many places that become truly magical in this autumn season, and here we have selected some of them for you to enjoy.
Among the most evocative trails to walk in the autumn those in the Sappada/Plodn valley, located in the eastern Dolomites between 1,200 and 1,300 metres asl, are a must. Like those to the Monte Ferro refuge and to the Malga Tuglia and Capanna Bellavista chalets. At Forni Avoltri, along the ridge of Friuli Venezia Giulia's highest mountains, lies Lake Volaia at an altitude of 2,000 metres asl. Of glacial origin this small lake is set between the slopes of the Volaia mountains, and at sunset they are a breath-taking spectacle.

In the Tarvisio area there are many easy paths with little difference in altitude but that boast unique natural and scenic features. Among them are the Upper and Lower Fusine Lakes, of glacial origin and connected by an underground system that in winter turns to ice in one of the coldest spots in Italy. In autumn it is possible to admire the lakes as they mirror the colours of the surrounding forest foliage, in a play of reflections and amplifications of warm shades and hues. From brown to yellow, passing through the typical reds of this season, the chromatic blends never cease to amaze. https://www.turismofvg.it/it/montagna365/lago-di-fusine
Remaining in the Tarvisio area, the Sentiero dell'Orrido dello Slizza (Slizza Gorge Trail) is a nature trail that starts from Tarvizio Boscoverde and descends through fir and pine woods to the bed of the Slizza spring. Then on wooden walkways you cross the gorge that the stream has carved out over the centuries. The route also includes a tunnel that was hand-carved in the 19th century. https://www.turismofvg.it/fvglivexperience/il-sentiero-dell-orrido-dello-slizza
At Sella Nevea, in the municipality of Chiusaforte there are three walking paths, the Anello delle Malghe, the Altopiano del Montasio and the Fontanone di Goriuda, along which you encounter the chromatic metamorphosis of the trees. One of the most popular destinations for mountain lovers is undoubtedly the Malghe del Montasio. https://www.turismofvg.it/it/87689/malghe-del-montasio
The Pani Trail is a wide 5-kilometre loop that takes its name from the valley of the same name which can be reached from the municipalities of Ampezzo, Socchieve and Raveo in the Carnia area. The valley, being located in a protected position among the mountains, is a natural gem of great charm and the trail has an altitude difference of about 200 metres, so the route is suitable for all types of walker. To tackle the loop, it is possible to leave the car at the Forca di Pani, the highest point of the route (1,139 metres), and take the path off the road, following the CAI 221 Trail which in this first portion crosses meadows and beech woods. The path then enters a forest, coming out a few hundred metres later near an old, abandoned stavolo animal shelter. The route continues downhill past a grove of cherry trees, becoming a paved road again. It further descends into a young beech wood with a stream, rising again on the opposite side of a hollow from which it is possible to admire the view over the hollow and the descending portion of the Tagliamento Valley. https://www.turismofvg.it/it/montagna365/cosa-fare/natura/i-sentieri-del-foliage
Illegio is a little treasure trove of art, a mountain village not far from Tolmezzo in Carnia. Arriving in this ancient village (which was probably the impregnable and mythical fortress of Ibligo) means entering a peaceful corner of the world far removed from the rush and bustle of modern life. From the end of the village of Illegio, from the San Paolo car park, you can follow a forest road that runs through a beech forest to arrive about an hour later at Prati di Lunge, a prairie surrounded by a beech forest that becomes a splendid spectacle during the autum. The route is suitable for all levels of walker. https://www.turismofvg.it/borghi-tipici/illegio
The Malghe Walk, which is suitable for everyone, runs through varied landscapes where autumn creates its own spectacle of colours. Barcis, a lake that mirrors a forest, has splendid colours in autumn that reflect on the water enchanting visitors. One of the most attractive paths is the Dint Trail, with its belvederes overlooking the gorge.
Whether to admire the foliage or to end your trip to Friuli Venezia Giulia there are many offers and packages to help you plan your holiday: tastings, adventure parks, the search for uniqueness and typical local products, events and promotions. These packages are grouped by category, so you can choose the best setting for your autumn experiences at: https://www.turismofvg.it/it/montagna365/pacchetti-offerte-montagna
