The Voihotels’ partnership with Treedom aims at planting 1,500 new fruit and forest trees in three years starting from 2022.

Treedom is a web platform that directly finances agroforestry, creating sustainable ecosystems and allowing thousands of farmers to meet the initial costs of planting new trees in order to guarantee food sovereignty and income opportunities over time.

All Voihotels hold the GSTC certification

Sustainability is very important to Voihotels, with various initiatives undertaken to promote social responsibility in the world of tourism. Among these is the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification project, aimed at reducing energy consumption, which has seen the certification of all 13 Voihotels in Italy.

Involving guests in environmental issues

Other virtuous activities include the recovery of exhausted oils, which are recycled to obtain regenerated oils, that are then reintroduced into the market. Another activity is the collaboration with Worldrise, an organisation that aims to protect the marine environment. Voihotels also promotes education about the sea and its wonders, involving guests in targeted activities and initiatives to promote knowledge and training on environmental issues.

Plastic-free hand wash and shampoo

All Voihotels are also certified by Dream & Charme, an independent, impartial, specialized and legally accredited international body. In 2019 Voihotels stopped using disposable plastic and introduced D Planet: an innovative cosmetic line created with Allegrini that includes plastic-free hand wash and shampoo.

Enhancing local excellence and protecting areas

"Our goal is to develop sustainable hospitality, raising awareness among our guests and living in harmony with the areas in which our hotels are located - explains the CEO of Voihotels, Paolo Terrinoni -. The new partnership with Treedom adds to those already in place, which are aimed at enhancing local excellence and supporting  areas of Italy with history, flavours and particularities that need to be protected and promoted. HNH Hospitality’s Giardino di Costanza has opened in Mazara del Vallo. This elegant 5-star resort in the Mazara del Vallo countryside is not far from the sea, in a lush green Mediterranean park with palm trees and centuries-old olive trees, fountains and water features.

Modelled on an ancient Sicilian noble homestead

The Almar Giardino di Costanza Resort has been modelled on an ancient Sicilian noble homestead, and the name is a tribute to Constance of Altavilla, mother of Emperor Frederick II, a protagonist of the Arab-Norman era. Adjacent to the resort is Villa Fontanasalsa, built around 1850 which, after a meticulous renovation, will host events and receptions.

Artisanal salts will feature in the restaurant

The new resort has 88 rooms including junior suites, suites and royal suites, and all rooms have private balconies and terraces. In the Aquamadre Restaurant, named after the famous salt pans in the area, the chef’s creations will be accompanied by ten types of typical artisanal flavoured salts from the ancient Culcasi di Nubia salt pan. This is a Slow Food presidium and the only salt pan in this western region where, for over 100 years, just one type of salt has been collected once a year, by hand.

The Almablu Wellness & Spa will be expanded

The restaurant offers guests authentic cuisine with international influences and, there are two bars: the main Turchinu Lounge & Terrace and the Pool Bar next to the outdoor pool. At the end of 2022 the renovation and expansion of the new spa will begin. Inspired by the concept of the Almablu Wellness & Spa at Almar Jesolo it will be expanded to more than 2,700 square metres. There is also a relaxation area with comfortable loungers, a fully equipped gym, and three treatment rooms for face and body rituals and massages.

Visit Tuscany’s World Heritage Medici Gardens up to 2 October 2022 to discover the treasures of the Medici villas and gardens, their historical and rare botanical species and the dances and fashions that were all the rage in the days of the Medicis.

Themed workshops and itineraries

The World Heritage site Medici Villas in Tuscany is part of the Tuscany Region’s Officina Mirabilis project, a programme of more than 50 activities that explore the different aspects of life in the Medici villas through workshops, historical visits, thematic itineraries featuring botany and landscaping, and workshops on Renaissance dances and decorative arts.

Tuscany has 14 World Heritage villas and gardens

Since 2013, fourteen of the Medici villas and gardens in Tuscany have been recognized as World Heritage Sites. Scattered throughout the region they represent a unique system of residences that co-exist in harmony with nature and are dedicated to leisure, the arts and knowledge. Perfect examples of the synergy between architecture, gardens and the surrounding area, these Medici villas inspired princely residences throughout Italy and Europe.

“We are enhancing Tuscany’s cultural history”

"With Officina Mirabilis we are enhancing these beautiful places and Tuscany’s cultural history - said the project’s president Eugenio Giani. - The villas and gardens designed and built for the Medici family were an articulated system of residences and a synthesis between art, nature and the pleasures of life at court, but also places with a spiritual and scientific life. In these residences first the Medicis, then the Lorraine and the Savoy dynasties, devoted themselves to their passions: art and patronage, nature and hunting, conviviality and the decorative arts. All of which gives us the Tuscany we can see and enjoy today.”

The five suites have fountains with pure mountain water

The facade used on the new suites has a granular appearance and the colour reflects the hues of the surrounding mountains. Each of the suites also has a small fountain with pure mountain water that flows down from 3,500 metres: the Olympic Spa Hotel’s way of providing guests with pure drinking water and eliminating the use of plastic bottles.

The chalet has a sauna and an outdoor Jacuzzi

The Natural Spa chalet is on two levels and has an emotional shower and a wellness area overlooking the forest. It also has a shower room, a sauna with a view of the stunning Sasso Lungo mountain, an outdoor Jacuzzi and a mesh sofa suspended between two floors. Breakfast is served in the room, giving guests complete privacy.

A wooden sauna in the trees

The ongoing restyling project includes a new sauna in the trees which will be completed in 2023. This elevated construction, entirely made of wood, will blend in with the forest and have access only from the outside, via an elevated walkway from the hotel.

The tours of Sansepolcro’s deconstructed museum and guided tours have resumed, allowing visitors to experience the stories and enter into the history, customs, and traditions of this delightful little Tuscan town. It is also a responsible tourism model with the experience centred on the continuous and increasingly intense interaction between travellers, guests, and citizens.

The Deconstructed Museum

Places, People, and Stories is a project connecting visitors and the local community of Sansepolcro which is known for its extraordinary historical, artistic, and cultural wonders.  “Visitors become symbolic guardians of our heritage and traditions as they learn about our secrets from those who have lived its past and live its present." A new approach to responsible tourism that confronts issues regarding the impact of visitors on the environment and host communities.

Tours have started again

The tours run every Saturday up to September 24 with guides leading visitors through the streets and shops of the historic centre and discovering the Civic Museum with the works of Piero della Francesca. In two of the eight participating sites citizens of Sansepolcro open the doors of the Diocesan Archive, the Cathedral’s Bell Tower, the CasermArcheologica headquarters, the Biblioteca della Resistenza Museum, as well as spaces dedicated to lace making and flag-wavers.

An example of responsible tourism

The CasermArcheologica Association conceived the project in this format in 2019 in collaboration with other local associations and the Tourist Office. The Deconstructed Museum has proven to be one of Italy's most significant examples of responsible tourism, earning it the patronage of the Italia Patria della Bellezza Foundation.

Ancient and contemporary art

“As well as the Deconstructed Museum visitors are able to discover the customs, traditions and ancient and contemporary art of our city through its citizens,” said Francesca Mercati, Sansepolcro’s councillor for tourism.

The Londra hotel in Florence, close to the Tuscan capital's railway station, is to rebrand as an IGH Group Indigo property. Acquired by Eurazeo in 2020, it will first undergo a 4-star restyling and repositioning, due to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023, when the hotel will be rebranded Indigo, opening with 160 rooms.

The hotel will be managed by Eurazeo

Edmond de Rothschild allocated € 28.3 million in global loans for the project, acting through his own Edmond de Rothschild European High Yield I Real Estate Debt Fund and another separate fund dedicated to a German insurance group. Grape Hospitality, a pan-European hospitality platform founded in 2016 and controlled by Eurazeo, will manage the hotel. Eurazeo owns, operates, and manages 106 hotels and 70 restaurants in eight countries, totaling over 10,000 rooms, and affiliated through franchising contracts.

Funding completed in Germany, France and the Netherlands

"This transaction marks the first commercial operation of our pan-European fund in Italy, as well as the first in the hospitality sector,” explains Edmond de Rothschild's head of real estate debt, Ralf Kind. “The four previous funding operations we have conducted in Germany, France and the Netherlands demonstrated our team's ability to identify and create compelling businesses across Europe, supported by experienced sponsors and reliable funds. We will continue to intensify our international fundraising activities to grow our pan-European high yield investment fund which is due to close at the end of 2022.”

Bikes, tours and cycle paths are the best way to explore Italy’s Alpine city of Merano. On the saddle of a bike is the most comfortable, healthy and safe way to go, also thanks to the Bike-boxes located around the city that allow you to securely store your bike for free for 24 hours. For those who are curious to discover the territory in all its glory, Sissi Tours offers guided E-Bike tours: the program includes visiting farms and wine tastings and getting to know South Tyrolean culture.

Two exciting cycle trails

The Val Passiria and Val Venosta cycle paths both deserve special mention. The Val Passiria trail is from Merano to San Leonardo in Passiria and has a difference in height of about 370 metres, running for 20 kilometres alongside idyllic orchards, romantic bridges and enchanting villages. The Val Venosta connects Merano to the Resia Pass, is 80 kilometres long and winds along the Adige, following the Via Claudia Augusta.

Bike rentals and mobility scooters

This year's novelty is the innovative and sustainable rental service for e-bikes and mobility scooters from the Merano Thermal Baths whbich, together with their partner Emoby, have created a system for renting electric bicycles and scooters. For mountain bike lovers, the choice is equally vast with many trails at altitudes between 300 and 3000 metres. The hut-to-hut tours, combined with sporting challenges and ending at table with local delicacies, are very popular.

A cable car to 2,000 metres asl

From the city to the crisp air of 2,000 metres above sea level in no time! It only takes 10 minutes by bus to reach the departure point of the cable car and another seven minutes to get to an altitude of 2,000 metres and the Merano2000 ski resort, in the middle of the Avelengo plateau, one of the largest in the South Tyrol. Here you can explore woods and mountains along a network of paths and forest roads, on foot or by bike and there are over ten huts and restaurants where you can relax over the classical dishes typical of the region.
