The restyling of 255 rooms in the Hilton Rome Airport reflects the sea and the sky.

The hotel has just celebrated its 25th anniversary

The restyling project was entrusted to Studio Lorenzo Bellini Atelier, with the idea of making travel, even during breaks, a meaningful moment. The Hilton Rome Airport, which has just celebrated its 25th anniversary, is the only hotel directly connected to Leonardo da Vinci Airport. With its unmistakable architectural style, featuring modern artworks such as Arnaldo Pomodoro's famous sphere at the entrance and Jean Michel Folon's fountain statue “La Pluie” outside, the Hilton Rome Airport has a total of 517 rooms, a restaurant and bar. There is also a fitness room and an indoor swimming pool, 22 meeting and events rooms, ample parking and a pedestrian link to the airport.

The sea and the sky are dominant elements

The hotel is set in a landscape steeped in history, in an area with a strong historical and logistical identity, where the Tiber meets the sea, and was an important crossroads in ancient times. This concept gave rise to the project, with the dualism of the sea and the sky as dominant elements, both in symbolic and aesthetic terms, because connections by land and sea have characterized this area since ancient times.

Hilton Rome Airport King Deluxe Room

Fresh, deep shades of blue, in many hues

The colour board for materials and fabrics is directly inspired by the shades and textures of the sea and sky, natural elements that dominate and define the visual identity of the project. The fresh, deep shades of blue, in its many hues and veering towards teal, and shades of mustard, are accompanied by explicit references to the nautical world, such as the striped fabrics typical of Mediterranean fishing boats, which recall the upholstery of marine covers.

It feels like walking among the clouds

As guests move from room to room, the hotel corridors become part of the sensory landscape. The floor becomes a landscape, with the colours of the sea and its foam, suspending travellers in an imaginative dimension, as if they were walking among the clouds or on the edge of the water. The very location of the hotel within the airport area, to which it is connected by a covered walkway, reinforces the concept of the continuity of travel: arriving at the hotel is merely a stop on the journey, not a destination in itself.

Air Europa is celebrating its first 25 years on the Italian market.

The return last June of Madrid-Venice flights

This is a special anniversary that the airline celebrated recently in Rome in an equally special location, Harry's Bar on Via Veneto. It was an opportunity to highlight results and short-term forecasts with Renato Scaffidi, Air Europa's country manager in Italy, and Bernardo Botella, sales director of the Spanish carrier. The latter highlighted the good performance recorded since the start of the three routes operated in Italy, also recalling the return last June of the Madrid-Venice route, which was suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

“Italian passengers have access to over 35 destinations”

The positive trend is set to continue in 2025, when the airline expects to carry over 700,000 passengers on routes to and from Rome, Milan and Venice, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. This year, the airline will operate 4,500 flights with over 811,000 seats available, with an average occupancy rate of over 85%. Through the Madrid-Barajas hub, Italian passengers “have access to over 20 destinations in America and more than 15 in Spain,-  Botella pointed out. -Last year, more than 384,000 passengers travelled via Madrid in transit to or from one of the three Italian cities, representing 61% of passenger traffic. The most popular long-haul destinations for passengers flying from Italy to America, and vice versa, are Lima, Santo Domingo, São Paulo, Miami and Havana."

Operating 45 weekly flights during the high season

The carrier operates 42 weekly flights (increasing to 45 during the high season) from Rome, Milan and Venice with a fleet of Boeing 737s, which will be expanded in the coming days with the arrival of a new Boeing 737-8. This will be followed by three more aircraft during the current year and another 10 in 2026, bringing the total to 20.

Alaska Airlines has started the expansion from the new Seattle gateway, and will add Seattle to Rome flights from May 2026.

Four weekly flights to the end of October

This is a first for the route, which will operate from 11 May 2026 with four flights a week throughout the summer season, until the end of October. “Serving Rome nonstop from Seattle is a dream come true,- said Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines. -As an Italian-American son of Italian emigrants, I consider this a particularly important addition to our network. Rome has been at the top of the list since we announced our new world gateway in Seattle. For years our customers have been asking us for an easy way to get to Italy and we are thrilled to finally be able to offer it, to people in the Northwest and beyond. Let's go - Let's go!"

Seattle, the West Coast's new premier global gateway

Rome is the largest intercontinental summer destination not served by Seattle to date. It is consistently among the most popular destinations for Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members. To get to Italy, they previously had to make several stopovers, but now there is this new direct flight opportunity from Seattle, which is also the best one-stop choice for all travellers from the rest of the West Coast. It advances “Alaska Accelerate”, the three-year strategic plan to achieve $1 billion in incremental profits following the merger with Hawaiian Airlines, while transforming Seattle into the West Coast's new premier global gateway.

Rome follows Tokyo-Narita and Seoul-Incheon

Rome will be the third international route served from Seattle, following Tokyo-Narita, launched on 12 May, and, from 12 September, Seoul-Incheon. The hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is now the largest air hub on the West Coast and serves 104 destinations throughout North America with direct flights. This autumn Alaska Airlines will obtain a single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the new route will be served by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operated by Alaska Airlines, which will sport a new, truly global look and feel.

Fiumicino is a gateway for the entire Mediterranean basin

Located in central Italy, Rome will be the gateway for Central and Southern Europe and the entire Mediterranean basin. Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino offers convenient connections to all the main cities in Italy such as Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples, Catania, Palermo and many other destinations. Moreover, Rome, thanks to the port of Civitavecchia, is the second largest cruise port in Europe, a gateway to the Mediterranean. Fiumicino Airport offers more than 230 non-stop flights to destinations in some 80 countries

“Fiumicino plays key role in intercontinental travel”

“We are particularly proud that Alaska Airlines has chosen Rome as its first destination in Europe,- said Ivan Bassato, chief aviation officer Aeroporti di Roma. -This decision confirms the strategic importance of our airport as a global hub for air connections. For the first time Italy will be directly connected to

Seattle, further strengthening ties with the West Coast of the USA and the entire Pacific area.

Today Fiumicino ranks among the main European airports for the number of direct flights to North America, consolidating its key role in intercontinental travel.” For those arriving from Italy, Alaska Air Group's Seattle hub will offer nonstop punctual and convenient connections to 104 destinations throughout North America, including one of the best connections to Hawaii.
