Alessio Lazazzera, the general manager of Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido, has been named the European Hotel Managers’ Association’s Italian hotel manager of the year 2023.

A high capacity for managerial innovation combined with an excellent vision for the valorisation of territorial and human resources are the reasons that convinced the jury to name Alessio Lazazzera,
general manager of the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido, the European Hotel Managers’ Association’s Italian hotel manager of the year 2023. The announcement was made by the EHMA national delegate for Italy, Ezio Indiani. Among the nominees with Lazazzera was Giuseppe Bussetti, general manager of the Grand Hotel Oriente in Naples.

“With an eye for innovation, strong entrepreneurship, and exemplary management of his team, Alessio Lazazzera has revived the iconic Excelsior Lido in a complex city and at a particularly difficult time,- comments Indiani. - This year we received two prestigious nominations which present a series of similarities: both Lazazzera and Bussetti are in their fifties and from Campania; both worked in different departments of the hotel at the beginning of their careers and have gained invaluable professional experience in Italy collaborating on EHMA conferences.".
Experience gained in prestigious hotel chains
From 1989 to 2002, Lazazzera held positions in CIGA Hotels, Sheraton, Starwood and Relais & Chateaux. Since 2015 he has been general manager of the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort which has 380 employees, two restaurants, three bars, a gym, a conference centre, a fleet of seven private boats, and a beach club with 900 cabanas, as well as two additional bars and a self-service restaurant.
