Cathay Pacific is set to return to Rome Fiumicino on 5 June 2025 with direct Hong Kong flights.
Cathay returns to Rome in the 2025 Jubilee Year
Last year, area head Southern Europe Adrien Ng had anticipated this return with a diplomatic “let's wait and see,” while underlining the strong demand from the Italian market. Now the carrier returns to Fiumicino in the Jubilee Year, an event that takes place once every 25 years and sees a series of events and celebrations that will feature both Vatican City and Rome throughout the year.

Cathay will have daily Milan Malpensa flights from March
The Hong Kong-Rome Fiumicino Airport flights will operate three days weekly, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays during the summer season, and will be Cathay Pacific's second direct Italian connection. The airline currently operates five direct weekly flights to Milan Malpensa, which will become daily from 30 March 2025.
The airline has been flying to Italy for 40 years
“Cathay Pacific's history in Italy began almost 40 years ago, when we first launched direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome in 1986- says Lavinia Lau Cathay's chief customer and commercial officer. -We know that our customers have been eagerly awaiting the reinstatement of this route, and we are delighted to be returning to Italy's wonderful capital this summer. Whether they are travelling for business, pleasure or the Jubilee celebrations of 2025, we look forward to welcoming customers on board our flights to experience our high level of service.” The flights will be operated with A350-900s, which offers passengers fully reclining beds in Business, spacious seats in Premium Economy and comfort in Economy cabins.
