Olbia and Alghero, the airports of Northern Sardinia are heading for a record-breaking summer, with 6.8 million seats available, a 9% increase over 2025.
New routes from Spain, Holland, Germany and the UK
The network will offer 173 connections to 98 destinations, of which 75 are international and 23 domestic, with 19 new routes and the arrival of two new airlines. A highlight is the first direct flight between the US and Sardinia, with a Delta Air Lines flight set to commence on 21 May on the Olbia-New York JFK route (four weekly frequencies). The total capacity will rise to 4.8 million seats, up 7.2% over summer 2025, with a network of 134 routes and 96 destinations - 74 international and 22 domestic - operated by 40 airlines from and to 26 countries. New routes include Seville with Volotea, Eindhoven with Transavia, Berlin and Graz with Eurowings, and London Stansted with BA Cityflyer, a subsidiary of British Airways.
Flight capacity up 10% on Aprill 2025
The trend for April is particularly significant, with flight capacity set to be 10% higher than in April 2025. Ryanair will launch its Kraków route as early as mid-March, whilst Lufthansa will bring forward its flights to Munich and Frankfurt. Early launches are also planned for easyJet, which will operate five more routes than last year (Edinburgh, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nice and Nantes), in addition to SAS flights to Copenhagen, Wizz Air flights to Warsaw and Ryanair flights to Dublin and Vienna.
Alghero Airport to exceed 2 million passengers
Alghero Airport also aims to exceed the historic threshold of two million passengers, having closed 2025 with its best-ever result: 1,770,493 travellers. The schedule includes 46 routes, of which 16 are domestic and 30 international, to 18 countries outside Italy, with 10 new international routes and a 46% increase in international services.
Debuts and additional flights
Transavia will make its debut at Alghero airport with flights from Amsterdam and Paris; Wizz Air will launch four new routes from Warsaw, Belgrade, Tirana and Skopje; Ryanair will add routes from Warsaw and Tirana, whilst confirming flights from Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Cork, Dublin, Katowice, Bratislava, Barcelona, Madrid and Budapest. Volotea will strengthen its presence in the French market with a new route from Lyon, whilst confirming flights from Bordeaux and Paris. Air Europa will introduce a direct Alghero-Madrid service, whilst Air Serbia will confirm its route from Belgrade, and Aeroitalia will continue to operate the Alghero-Rome route under the territorial continuity scheme and will launch a new flight from Genoa in June.
ITA Airways, Ryanair and Volotea flights
ITA Airways will cover the Milan Linate route, again under the territorial continuity scheme. Ryanair will confirm its routes from Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Catania, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Palermo, Pescara, Pisa and Venice, whilst Volotea will connect Alghero with Turin, Verona and Florence.
