By Monday, 27 July 2026 10:01

The new general aviation terminal at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport is now operational.

Handling commercial flights from November

The works, which took two years to complete for an investment of €14.2 million, have resulted in a facility designed to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers. The terminal covers a total area of 2,000 sqm and is already operational for general aviation flights. From this coming November, following the scheduled closure of Naples Airport for runway refurbishment works, the terminal will also handle commercial flights.

Typical local materials have been used in the terminal

Designed in accordance with environmental sustainability and energy efficiency criteria, the terminal incorporates materials characteristic of the local area, including local ceramics, and is equipped with a photovoltaic system which, when fully operational, will cover some 40% of the building’s energy requirements.

"A modern, efficient and sustainable infrastructure"

"With the new general aviation terminal, we are taking a further step forward in the development of Salerno Airport, providing the region with a modern, efficient and sustainable infrastructure, designed to meet the needs of a high-value-added traffic segment that has always chosen Salerno as its preferred gateway to some of the world’s most prestigious tourist destinations. This is a strategic investment that will help generate significant economic and employment benefits, and to fully realize the potential of this market, we have also set up a dedicated company, Aviagold, which will offer highly specialized services for private aviation," said GESAC’s CEO, Roberto Barbieri.

"An asset for the future of Campania"

“The new terminal at Salerno, designed for general aviation and business flights is an asset for the future of Campania and reinforces Salerno Airport’s role as a prime gateway to the region’s finest offerings and a driver of new growth opportunities,” said ENAC President Pierluigi Di Palma.
