Cortina in September. Sport, music, wellness and gastronomy

By Tuesday, 02 September 2025 12:55

Cortina in September offers visitors many experiences from sport to music, wellness and gastronomic events.

Sunrise breakfasts and gourmet festivals

Thanks to the extended opening of several lifts of the Cortina Skiworld Consortium,  in September residents and travellers can still reach the most iconic views and experience unique events in spectacular natural settings. September in Cortina is synonymous with haute cuisine with a view: at the Rifugio Averau (12, 19 and 26 September) and the Rifugio Nuvolau (4, 11 and 18 September) you can watch the sunrise over the Dolomites while enjoying a real mountain breakfast.  Also returning on 13 September is The Queen of Taste, the haute cuisine festival now in its ninth edition.

Outdoor adrenaline: trail races, downhill and gourmet tastings

The Delicious Festival Dolomiti (26-27 September) is a big multi-sport event with trail running which is among the most suggestive in the Dolomites. There will be the Delicious Trail Dolomiti (long distance: 43 kilometres), Medium (35 kilometres) and Short Trail (23 kilometres), the Mini Delicious Trail for the little ones, and the Friends of Delicious event with the involvement of the best local restaurateurs. The heart of the festival is the PalaDelicious in Pocol, where gourmet tastings, evening parties, music and DJ sets will be held. The event is open to all (info: delicioustrail.it).

Mountain bike races also for very young bikers

For mountain bikers there is the Cortina Enduro Race (11-12 September), in the new Socrepes bike park, to experience the descent through forests and along adrenaline-filled trails (info: dolomitibikecompany.com). For the very young, the Mini Downhill (2013-2019) will be held on Saturday 6 September, while the FCI Downhill Regional Championship will be held on Saturday 13 September. And the high-altitude yoga lessons will continue until 16 September every Thursday morning (10.30 a.m.) on the meadow in front of the Masi Wine Bar at Druscié, which is easily reached by cable car.

Culture and sport: music and exhibitions at over 2,000 metres

On Saturday, 6 September, at the Scoiattoli Refuge, the last ‘Tramonto in Musica’ (Sunset in Music) event will feature the ANA Monte Grappa Edelweiss Choir, which will accompany the setting of the sun with traditional Alpine songs in one of the most scenic settings in the Dolomites. Until 26 September, the Cima Tofana station will host the photographic exhibition “Per Aspera ad Astra”, dedicated to the mountaineering tradition of Cortina and the history of its guides. Anf the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti will present the Lagazuoi Winning Ideas Mountain Awards exhibition, dedicated to mountain-related innovations in the fields of design, communication and sustainability.

A last toast to summer

With September and the end of the summer season the lifts will close, starting on 7 September when the Cortina Skyline will make its last run. From 14 September, the lifts in Auronzo will close and from 21 September, the Rio Gere/ Son Forca chairlift on Cristallo will no longer be in operation.  The Tofana lifts will officially close on 28 September, but will remain open exceptionally on the weekend of 25-26 September to allow everyone to enjoy a last panoramic toast at the Masi Wine Bar in Druscié.   Not everything, however, ends with the month of September. On the CInque Torri and Lagazuoi you can still take the lists to admire the peaks until late October, 5 and 19 October respectively.  To purchase passes online and to be updated on openings, which may vary depending on weather conditions and the progress of maintenance work, visit the website www.skipasscortina.com
