Active Summer outdoor experiences
This popular ski area straddling Lombardy and Trentino is launching Active Summer, a unique programme of outdoor experiences that can be booked online at pontedilegnotonale.com.The project aims to create a daily programme designed to help guests discover the area, offering a range of hikes, sporting events and family activities supported by professionals including mountain guides, bike instructors and mid-mountain guides.
"A different experience every day"
“We want to make the holiday even easier to enjoy, helping visitors find their way among the many possibilities offered by the area. The idea is to allow the public to choose a different experience every day, bringing together sport, nature and the area's identity,” explains Michele Bertolini, director of the Pontedilegno-Tonal consortium.
Bike courses for children and e-bike tours
The programme changes daily and follows the rhythm of the week, capturing all the essence of summer in the mountains. Activities range from mountain bike courses for children at the Junior Bike Park in Ponte di Legno to guided e-bike tours between the Tonale Pass and Vermiglio; from treks along the Path of Peace and the White War Tunnel on the Presena to rafting trips down the River Noce.
Wildlife trails and barefoot walking
Alongside the sporting activities, there are also wildlife trails in the Stelvio National Park, barefoot walking, educational excursions and games designed for families. The programme also includes more cultural experiences, such as guided tours of Vermiglio, the village in Val di Sole that served as the backdrop for the film of the same name, which won awards at the Venice Film Festival and the David di Donatello Awards.
Daily access to one free activity
The scheme is based on close collaboration with local accommodation providers: guests staying at participating establishments receive the Adamello Card or the Val di Sole Guest Card Pontedilegno-Tonale free of charge, which grants daily access to one free activity, as well as discounts on other scheduled experiences and reduced rates for lifts and transport. The Full Mountain Weeks
From 11–19 July and 25 July–2 August, the regular programme takes a break to make way for the Full Mountain Weeks, reserved exclusively for cardholders: on the programme is a theatrical high-altitude trek, a cooking demonstration by chef Andrea Mainardi featuring local dairy products, and a trek with trail runner Marco Olmo to discover the benefits of sport whilst immersed in nature.
A music festival and mountain sunrises
The summer programme features the Water Music Festival, running from 3 July to 6 September. The festival brings music to the Alpine lakes and the floating stage on Lake Valbiolo, where the water is not just a backdrop but an integral part of the project. Finally, the Alba in Quota event returns, offering five opportunities to experience the sunrise in the high mountains, ranging from Roccolo Ventura at 1,700 metres (on 19 July in Temù) to the Presena Glacier at 3,000 metres (on 26 July, and 14, 21 and 26 August). To make this experience possible, the lifts open before dawn and take visitors up to the viewing points from which to watch the morning light reach the peaks of the Adamello-Presanella range.
