Face Pass, the biometric facial recognition system implemented thanks to a pilot project in partnership with Lufthansa, is now operational at Naples airport.
A face scan allows self-mode boarding
Passengers wishing to use the new technology can go to one of the totems located at the Lufthansa check-in desks to register their boarding pass and ID and have their face scanned by a special camera. Registration allows access to the biometric lane, appropriately indicated by ad hoc signage, both at security controls and at the gate, where boarding takes place in self-mode. All passengers need to do is show their face, without the need to present their boarding pass and documents.
“Optimizing security and operational efficiency”
“Our goal is to accelerate the innovative and evolutionary thrust of the digital transition, progressively extending biometric recognition to all departing passengers, to improve traveller satisfaction, simplify processes, and optimize security and operational efficiency,” said Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, Naples airport’s management company.
A commitment to advanced and secure hi-tech solutions
“This initiative is an important step towards modernizing and simplifying the travel experience for our passengers. We are thrilled to collaborate with GESAC on this pilot project, which reflects our commitment to offering advanced and secure technological solutions to make airport processes more efficient and comfortable,” said Gabriella Galantis, senior director sales Southern Europe Lufthansa Group.
