What markets are you targeting and with which products?
“We are targeting markets such as Germany, France, Northern Europe and the United States where there is a strong demand for authentic experiences linked to culture, nature, food and wine. We are also looking at emerging markets like South America and South-East Asia, which are showing great interest in lesser-visited Italian destinations.”
How is the domestic market responding?
“Domestic tourism remains fundamental, also as a lever for deseasonalization and the discovery of lesser-known inland areas. After the pandemic Italians rediscovered the beauty of their own regions, and today they are especially interested in staycations, cultural and experiential tourism.”
What are your aims for 2025?
For 2025 we will be working on four main trajectories The first is innovation and digitalization, to facilitate the matching of supply and demand and improve competitiveness Then we are enhancing minor territories and destinations by setting up DMOs. Training and qualification of operators is another essential aim, and so is environmental and economic sustainability because the tourism of the future will have to be responsible, inclusive and attentive to the needs of the territory.
Which markets do you consider as the most strategic?
Some traditional markets like Russia and part of the Middle East have slowed down, but we are seeing growing interest from the United States, Canada and Asia with South Korea, Japan and India in the forefront. Today strategic markets are seeking authenticity, safety, sustainability and beauty ad authenticity rather than mass-produced Italy.
How much is individual tourism and how much organized?
Individual tourism is constantly growing thanks to digitalization but organized and group tourism linked to food and wine, cultural tours and senior tourism continues to play an important role, also because it stretches throughout the year.
What are your future strategies?
They are based on a strong alliance between the public and private sectors, and on strengthening DMOs for marketing, promotion and territorial planning. And we will focus on digitalization, the internationalization of smaller destinations and innovative ways of presenting Italy to attract new global tourists who are looking for excitement, authenticity and value for money.

“Our aim is to focus on an alternative to the sun-sea product”
The high season is from April to October, but May, June and September are the best months. “It is interesting to note that the number of visitors has grown in the shoulder months,- says Mayor Roberto Ragnedda. -Sardinia’s history is increasingly becoming a reason to travel. Our aim is to focus on an alternative to the sun-sea product, so that there is a better distribution of flows throughout the year. Highlighting our natural and cultural resources helps to attract a different target group more interested in outdoor activities and discovering the local area.”
Improving facilities for visitors
The number of visitors to Arzachena’s museum is also growing, going from 3,500 annual visits in 2023 to 4,000 in 2024, with good results in November and December. “Exhibitions and concerts during the Christmas period have proved to be winning initiatives for renewing interest attracting tourists and the local community - said Ragnedda. “At the archaeological park we have installed new signage with maps and details at strategic points, while walkways and wooden fences have been completed,” added Ge.se.co director Anna Maria Zedda
“The first low-cost alternative on a large scale at Milan Linate”
mini EasyJet base Kenton Jarvis“Milan is our home in Italy. And to add the Linate base to the historic Malpensa base is an ambition that has finally been realized,” said Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, explaining the launch of the new base on 2 April, after having inaugurated the Rome Fiumicino base the day before. “For the first time, - Jarvis explained, -we are offering a low-cost alternative on a large scale at Milan Linate where legacy carriers have historically operated, strengthening Linate's role as a gateway to Europe. Expanding our network of destinations is a fundamental pillar of our development strategy: by connecting Milan to a growing number of European destinations, including new ones, with direct flights, we intend revolutionizing the travel experience from Linate and stimulate the economic growth of the territory.”
Making efficient use of available slots at Milan Linate
“EasyJet's arrival at Linate is a real advantage for the airport,- said Armando Brunini, CEO of SEA Milan Airports, - as it is a stopover with limited movements (18 per hour Ed.) the use of larger capacity aircraft with high load factors allows for a particularly efficient use of available slots. Furthermore, easyJet’s network of destinations fits perfectly with that of Linate, thanks to its point-to-point model for European destinations. Finally, the portfolio of international destinations reachable from the airport is growing significantly compared to the current offer, which until now has been mainly concentrated on connections to the reference hubs of the traditional airlines that operate at Linate’.
Five new destinations from Rome Fiumicino
For summer 2025 easyJet is offering 16 destinations in Rome, five of which are new, and a capacity that has increased by 35% compared to last year. During the summer, up to 56 daily flights to and from Rome will be operated, for over 1.4 million seats. The new routes available from Rome include Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Zurich and Brussels, in addition to the existing destinations of London, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Paris Orly, Nantes, Nice, Lyon, Basel, Geneva and Berlin. The investment in Rome will have a significant impact on employment in the area, with the hiring of 150 people.
easyJet now has 38 aircraft based in four Italian airports
“The opening of the easyJet base in our 5-star airport once again demonstrates the great appeal of Fiumicino, now in the top 10 of the best-connected airports globally, and confirms the strategic importance of the capital on international markets,” adds Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma. With the opening of the base at Milan Linate, easyJet now has 38 aircraft based in Italy at 4 airports (in addition to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, also Malpensa and Naples) and 1,650 employees. Ours thus becomes the second largest market for easyJet, with over 21 million seats available for flights on over 260 routes to and from 19 Italian airports.
