A winter wonderland that is a delight in summer
If in the winter this is a popular ski area that delights lovers of downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowshoeing, with the reawakening of nature and its colours Carezza and Obereggen become worlds of entertainment for those who love walking or bike excursions. Between the Catinaccio and Latemar Dolomite peaks you are projected into adventures such as swimming in high.altitude lakes, horseback riding in the breathtaking South Tyrolean scenery, and trekking with llamas and alpacas.
Mountain trails for walkers and cyclists
Walking enthusiasts will find 500 kms of hiking routes and four via ferrata old railway lines to explore in the Val d’Ega: a world studded with mountain huts and high-altitude refuges. Sinuous trails and mountain passes, valley descents and climbs that challenge even the smoothest pedalling, are a huge draw for both mountain bike fans and those who prefer the softer approach of the e-bike.
A green destination par excellence
From the first rays of spring to the last of the autumn leaves, the Val d'Ega provides specialized facilities and comprehensive support to cyclists, including rentals, schools, MTB guides, bike hotels, guided MTB tours, bike parks, and bike routes. Among the many advantages of the Val d'Ega, a green destination par excellence that strives to reduce the environmental impact of tourism, is the ability to forget about the car entirely with the Guest Pass which allows free and unlimited use of public transport throughout South Tyrol for seven days.

A cultural event with domestic and international reach
Promoting the reading and distribution of books also provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the city’s cultural heritage, with high-level exhibitions and events that will also be a major attraction for visitors.
“A fantastic job has been done not only in Italy but also internationally, - say regional president Giovanni Toti and Genoa’s mayor Marco Bucci, - and we are confident that this great achievement will bring even more prestige to the Ligurian capital on a cultural level, and also impact on tourism.”
Festivals, exhibitions and book fairs in Genoa
Many well-established initiatives will also be featured, ranging from the La Storia in Piazza Festival to the Science Festival, as well as publishing exhibitions and book fairs aimed at turning books into instruments of civil growth and social integration. Other activities to be organized throughout the year include public readings and structural interventions for city libraries, as well as educational initiatives and exhibitions.
“A new awareness for Bergamo and Brescia”
“Both Brescia and Bergamo had to overcome many recent difficulties including the pandemic, but we have now been able to build up new awareness for our destination. This took concrete form in the choice of Brescia and Bergamo as Capital of Culture 2023," said Manuel Gabriele, director of Visit Brescia, speaking at the ITB in Berlin.
Unique cultural and artistic hidden treasures
"The project does not end in 2023 but will progress over time on four levels. The first promotes a city of unique artistic and cultural hidden treasures. Then there is the new way of thinking about the two cities, thanks to the green landscaping trail between Bergamo and Brescia. And we have the Inventing City and the Cultural City. In the first case we are talking about innovation, and when it comes to culture the city is no longer designed for the tourist, but for its citizens which of course makes it attractive also for tourists.”
