Naples Airport has unveiled its €250-million Masterplan to drive international growth to 2035.

A new terminal for non-Schengen flights

Approved by ENAC in August the plan provides for a total investment of over €250 million, €230 million of which will come from private sources, and the acquisition of approximately 170,000 sqm of new land for the airport’s development. Key projects include a new terminal on 15,000 sqm non-Schengen flights, new aircraft stands, a new cargo and logistics area, an airport hotel and improvements to access roads. The plan also includes over €13 million worth of measures to promote environmental sustainability.

Better integrating the airport into the urban fabric

Traffic growth forecasts indicate up to 17.3 million passengers per year by 2035, without increasing the airport’s current hourly capacity. This will be possible by using  higher-capacity aircraft, an increase in the average aircraft load factor, and more efficient flight scheduling, with a better distribution of flights across time slots with lower traffic volumes. The airport’s development is also an opportunity for urban regeneration and improving the quality of public areas, boosting the airport’s integration into the urban fabric.

"The airport has supported Naples’ extraordinary tourism growth"

"This plan...brings together growth, sustainability and urban quality. The airport is growing alongside the city, improving its accessibility, contributing to the regeneration of the surrounding areas and creating new spaces and connections for the community. Thanks to an increasingly international network, the airport has supported Naples’ extraordinary tourism growth in tourism, helping to make it one of Europe’s leading destinations," said Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC: The mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi said that in recent years Capodichino "has greatly contributed to enhancing Naples’ international standing as a European capital. A key development will be the opening of the new metro station, which will finally link Capodichino with the Central Station, the city centre and the western part of the city."
