Trapani and its province, which has luxury properties like Hotel Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo, could become one of Italy’s next UNESCO heritage sites.
Making Trapani and its province a year-round destination
Trapani
The local Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Unioncamere Sicilia and Logos, has put forward the idea of the UNESCO candidacy, which is certainly ambitious, although the area has much to offer. In recent years, in particular in 2023, the tourist season for the town and the province of Trapani was an extraordinarily long one, lasting right up to November. The theory therefore is that it is possible to offer visitors a year-round welcome, creating experiences, organizing exhibitions and programmes that would showcase Trapani in all four seasons.
“Our resort is for the conscious traveller”
"We are absolutely in tune with this proposal,- says Anna Palmeri, owner of Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo, the 5-star luxury wine resort. - We have always gone beyond the idea of a simple seaside holiday in Sicily. Our resort is for the conscious traveller seeking authentic experiences, who wants to discover the area by savoring it in detail. The Trapani area is of extraordinary historical, artistic and archaeological interest, even though it is not as well-known as other parts of Sicily. The test will be 2025, with two events: Sicily as a European destination for food and wine, and Agrigento as the Italian capital of culture.”
