The lagoon island of Crevan in Venice’s historic lagoon, 7.5 kilometres from Venice’s historic centre, is up for sale.
Steeped in over 800 years of history
Managed by Lionard Luxury Real Estate the island is priced at 5.5 million euros. The island, which covers an area of 5,700 square metres, boasts stunning views of Venice, Burano and Torcello and features a garden of fruit trees, as well as being steeped in over 800 years of history, from the Franciscan friars to the Napoleonic fort.
The fort has four bedrooms
Venice is just a 20-minute boat ride away, and the airport is 25 minutes away. The fort has been modernized by the owners and consists of four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a lounge. It is equipped with running water, electricity, heating, air conditioning and offers the potential for further expansion. Outside there is accommodation for the caretaker and one of the world’s oldest examples of a ‘”trabaccolo” a traditional fishing boat which is moored at one of the two landing stages. “Crevan offers the privilege of escaping the world without straying far from Venice,’ explained Dimitri Corti, founder and CEO of Lionard, to the Corriere della Sera newspaper. “You’re not just buying a residence and a plot of land, but space, privacy and an entire landscape to cherish.”
The island even ended up on Airbnb
For thirty years, this half-hectare of land belonged to the Poli family of Verona, before passing in 2000 to Giorgio Panto, an entrepreneur from Meolo. In October 2014 the estate agency Vladi, which specializes in ultra-luxury private islands, put it on the market for €9.5 million revising down an initial asking price of €12.5 million, a price that has almost halved over the course of twelve years. Meanwhile, the island had also ended up on Airbnb. Of the 33 lagoon islets, the majority are divided between the state, the local council, the local health authority and religious congregations. Among these is the island of San Francesco nel Deserto, with its convent dedicated to the saint of Assisi who stayed there in 1220, which is now home to the Friars Minor.
