Autumn colours are at their most beautiful around the lakes and cycling trails in the Veneto's Tre Cime Dolomiti area.
Spectacular autumn foliage
In September, landscapes change colour and the fascinating phenomenon of foliage begins. In the area of the Tre Cime Dolomiti Tourist Consortium in Veneto, there are some magical spots where you can admire the season’s warm hues. Walks around the lake
Suitable for everyone is the walk that goes around Lake Auronzo: a 6 kilometre circular route that is flat and offers stunning views. The path is unpaved but well-trodden, and there are two spots offering particularly striking views: the Transacqua bridge, where flags from all over the world welcome walkers. A small Alpine lake
Less well-known than those of Auronzo and Misurina, Lake Antorno lies within the territory of the Tre Cime Dolomiti Tourist Consortium and offers truly evocative views in autumn. Situated at an altitude of 1,866 metres, this small alpine lake reflects the majestic Tre Cime, and the full circuit of the lake is just 500 metres, making it an easy walk for everyone. There are many small bridges and footbridges, and also open spaces with benches for picnics relaxing breaks. Several hiking trails start from Lake Antorno, including the most famous trail to the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, the Monte Piana circular route where traces of the Great War can be found.

Cycling between the two lakes
Those wishing to enjoy the autumn colours by bike can follow the cycle path linking Lake Auronzo to Lake Misurina. A spectacular route of just under 22 kilometres with an elevation gain of around 923 metres, starts from the Transacqua bridge on Lake Auronzo. The cycle path is well signposted with signs indicating your current location, the elevation gain already covered and the distance to the finish. Along the route there are several rest areas with bike racks, benches and tables where you can enjoy a snack or a rest.
