Tuscany’s Florence and Pisa Airports head towards a bumper summer

With over eight million seats for an estimated growth of 9.6% compared to last year, Florence and Pisa airports are headed for a bumper summer.


There are 96 destinations from Florence and Pisa airports

The two Tuscan airports are operating flights to a total of 96 destinations, 10 of which are new. “As we reach the tenth anniversary of the Tuscan airport system, these numbers confirm the strategic complementarity of the two airports and their significant impact on the local area and related industries,” says a note from the company that manages the two Tuscan airports. 2025, it continued, started “with some 150, 000 more passengers (+10.3%), and an increase in the first three months of 8% for Florence and 12% for Pisa.”

Florence is the strategic Tuscan airport for international connectivity

Florence’s Vespucci Airport recorded an estimated 12% increase in seats compared to the previous season, reaching a capacity of 3.27 million and a total of 40 destinations. “The Florentine airport confirms its status as the strategic Tuscan airport for international connectivity, thanks to the range of connections with the main European hubs. During the summer season, important destinations such as Paris (Air France), London (British Airways), Copenhagen (SAS), Munich and Frankfurt (Air Dolomiti) are expected to see a boost in flights. Then there will be new routes to Nice (Air Corsica) and Alghero (Volotea), as well as Brussels (also operated by Vueling on an annual basis), as well as the return of Air Serbia's flights to Belgrade.”

Pisa Airport will offer five million seats this summer

The Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa “is preparing for an unprecedented summer season, with an estimated total of some five million seats (+8% compared to 2024) and a total of 78 destinations. New routes include Sofia and Amman (Ryanair), Warsaw (Wizz Air and Ryanair) and Katowice (Wizz Air) and London Southend operated by easyJet which will resume flights to Barcelona, as will flydubai to Dubai.”

Elba Airport has flights to Italy and Europe

The airport on the island of Elba is also preparing for an important season, with the first year of management by Toscana Aeroporti. The Elba airport will be connected six days a week with Pisa and Florence airports and twice a week with Milan Linate. In addition, Elba is connected to Europe thanks to the twice-weekly flights with Mannheim and those with Friedrichshafen Germany and Alternhein in Switzerland.
