A year packed with international engagements
Led by President Rosalia d'Alì and her all-female team of Emanuela Lagaddino, vice-president, Germana Abbagnato, tourism councillor Mazara del Vallo, and Rossella Cosentio, tourism councillor Erice, the District coordinates resources and energies to promote an area that continues to surprise for its authenticity and beauty. For the District, 2025 was a year packed with international engagements, including the May 2025 “Welcome to Sicily” fam trip for European buyers specialized in outdoor, green tourism and well-being, which also featured a day of B2B meetings with local tourism operators.
Fam trips in collaboration with ItaliAbsolutely and Travel Open Day
In October 2025 the District was at the TTG fair in Rimini and took part in an event outside the fair with European and American buyers to promote the destination West of Sicily. Like the “Welome to Sicily” fam trip, this was organized in collaboration with ItaliAbsolutely and Travel Open Day. Finally, December 2025 saw the organization of road shows with European buyers and journalists in London and Brussels to present air connections with West of Sicily and promote the West of Sicily destination.
Co-marketing with airlines and tour operators
President Rosalia D’Alì said “our territory is made of many layers, from history to nature and culture to gastronomy, with an identity that remains authentic and welcoming. Our aim is to strengthen direct links with international markets, and bring new value to both travellers and local operators.” Sites such as Segesta, Mozia, Erice, and the salt pans of Trapani and Marsala are particularly attractive to international markets. The District plans to further expand co-marketing projects with airlines and tour operators, focusing on priority markets such as Northern Europe, the UK and Canada. “As a Tourism District our role is to build bridges. Every meeting, every workshop, every fam trip, is a new step forward. West Sicily is ready to boost its identity and position itself among the most compelling Mediterranean destinations.”
An agreement between West of Sicily, Airgest and Go to Fly
A new collaboration has been launched between the West of Sicily District, Airgest and the airline Go To Fly, the aim being to attract tourists and visitors to West of Sicily. Go To Fly operates direct flights to Trapani-Marsala’s airport from Verona and Forlì. "We are very pleased with this concrete collaboration - said D'Alì, Bufo and Diaz. - We are confident that it will serve to boost the number of tourists arriving at Trapani-Marsala’s airport. It provides a valuable opportunity to promote our area and its many tourism experiences.”
Looking ahead to 2026: digital growth and market expansion
For 2026 the District’s strategic objectives include focusing on strengthening West of Sicily’s competitiveness across international markets. The focus for the coming year will also be on expanding the destination’s digital ecosystem, beginning with a further upgrade of the site westofsicily.com, which will feature new bookable experiences and more refined content aimed at supporting year-round visibility. Alongside this, the District plans to intensify its work with local operators through dedicated training sessions and seminars designed to enhance digital skills and perfect the commercial presentation of experiential products.
