Tired of cramming your carry-on into a luggage sizer, while an attendant glares at you? And of squabbling with fellow passengers who refuse to store their trolleys neatly? Relief may be on the way. Airbus has introduced new L-shaped overhead lockers that add 60% more space. Not only does this mean less stress, but also fewer extra cabin baggage charges.
These lockers will store bags both vertically and horizontally, making it easier to fit everyone’s luggage, so, in theory, airlines may not need to measure your bag down to the nearest millimeter anymore.
But hold that thought - budget airlines aren’t exactly known for letting go of their extra fees without a fight. And given that Ryanair, easyJet, and Wizz Air rake in up to 45% of their revenue from extras like baggage charges, don’t expect them to roll out the red carpet any time soon.
Still, bigger lockers? We’ll take it!
