Pieve Aldina, in the heart of Chianti, is to join Relais and Chateaux and open this June.
The former residence of the bishops of Siena
On the wine road that links Florence to Siena Pieve Aldina, a luxury countryside hotel with 21 rooms including 16 suites, is nestled in the peaceful Tuscan countryside. The main unit, which dates back to the 11th century, was previously the summer residence of the bishops of Siena and is surrounded by vineyards, cypresses, and 40 hectares of olive groves.
Large rooms and suites in Tuscan style
The terracotta floors, impressive ceilings with exposed beams, and beautiful arches in the historic building are almost entirely original, emphasizing the truly Tuscan style of this authentic property. The large rooms and suites are spread across three buildings, one of which can be exclusively reserved, and they offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Wine tastings and cooking classes
The two restaurants and the wine bar celebrate the rich gastronomic heritage of the region and some of Italy’s most prized products. After a day of wine tasting in local cellars or a cooking class to learn how to make traditional fresh pasta, guests can treat themselves to a massage or a moment of relaxation by the pool which has views over the valley.
