This year 24% more seats than in 2019
Iberia looks at the Italian market with optimism and confirms its commitment to Italy as one of its most strategic basins. “In 2025, we will hit a historical record with 158 weekly frequencies between Spain and Italy- says Carmen Giraud, Iberia’s sales manager Europe, Middle East and Asia. -With flights to Rome, Milan (both Linate and Malpensa), Venice, Bologna, Naples, Florence and Turin plus seasonal flights, Iberia is boosting its presence on the Italian market, on which it is offering a total of 2.9 million seats. This is 2% more seats than in 2024, and 24% more seats than in 2019.”
Italy is the second largest market for Iberia
“This year is also the year of the Jubilee in Rome, and we will further increase frequencies: there will be five more weekly flights for a total of six or seven daily flights. These figures confirm the airline's strong commitment to Italy, the country with the most destinations in our entire network, after Spain of course. In addition to the destinations that operate all year round, in summer Iberia strengthens its presence with the introduction of seasonal routes to Catania, Cagliari, Olbi and Palermo, and thus adapting to the high seasonal tourist demand.”
Iberia carried 31 million passengers in 2024
The 2024-2025 winter season is confirmed to be a positive one for Iberia, reflecting the solid growth the company has recorded on the Italian market throughout the year. “Last year we had sustained growth that allowed us to reach record figures, carrying around 31 million passengers in 2024 and operating a total of 222,641 flights. Regarding the fleet, we expect to receive six new A321XLRs - the seventh will become operative in early 2026 - and one new A350 this year.’
